Dear Parents and Carers,
This has been a busy term with Sports Days, the Variety Show, building works, residential visits, national assessments (SATs), as well as special events such as our Junior school Museum day.
Wherever our children have visited, we have received compliments on their behaviour and active participation in the events. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the staff for organising such enriching experiences for the children and for the many parent volunteers, particularly the Friends, who have given considerable amounts of time to make a difference.
I would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy summer vacation and look forward to meeting the children in their new classes on Friday 4th September.
Miss Wilcox
Headteacher

Thank you and goodbye
We are sad to say good bye to the following members of staff and wish them all the very best for the future and thank them for their contribution to our school.
Mrs Anne Baker has been our ICT technician, supporting staff with all those frustrating problems that computers can bring, as well as being instrumental in setting up our school web site. Anne has also contributed enormously to the school through her work on the Friends committee.
Anne has recently been successful in gaining a full time FSA role at the Burgate school.
Mrs Claire Cunningham has been a superb manager of our kitchen. She wishes to give the
following farewell. “After eight years working in the Rockbourne kitchen, it is with some sadness that I am leaving at the end of term to take on the responsibility of a larger kitchen in need of help. Throughout my time at Rockbourne I have been grateful for the help and support of the staff, parents and pupils and I know that I am going to miss everyone. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and wish everyone well at Western Downland”.
Leavers’ Service at St Andrew’s Church
There is a special service at St Andrew’s Church on Monday 20th July starting at 9:45am for our Year 6 leavers. This will be attended by the whole school and parents are warmly invited to join us.
Following the church service, there will be a special awards ceremony at the Rockbourne site, for Year 6 children and their parents. >
To remind the children of their time at Western Downland, the Friends are very kindly presenting the Year 6 children with an autograph book.
Year 6 Leavers’ Lunch
On Tuesday 21st July, our Year 6 will have a special leavers’ lunch. This year the meal has been very kindly provided through the generosity of Mr and Mrs Kimber, grandparents of one of our Year 6 children. We know that this will be greatly appreciated by the children.
New Football Kit for the Team
We would like to give a huge thank you to the Royle family, who have very kindly purchased a whole new football kit for the school team.
This is greatly appreciated and the children will be very proud of their new kit.
YOUR SCHOOL LOTTERY NEEDS YOU!
A really big thank you to all those people who have supported our lottery so far, however we are still 42 people short.
How would you like to win a possible £20 each month?
For just £1 per month you could be a lucky winner. Not only would this but you be supporting the school with its fundraising. Please return the forms to the school by the end of term.
What’s on this Summer?
The Avon Valley Extended Services Team have put together an enjoyable range of clubs and activities within the area over the summer period. Your child will have brought home a booklet with details of these opportunities.
Spaces are being booked quickly. For more information please e-mail or telephone Mandy at mandy.robbins@ringwood.hants.sch.uk or 07595704359.
Damerham Village Fair
After their successful debut at the Rockbourne Fair, some of our children will again be performing their maypole dances at the Damerham Village Fair on Saturday 18th July at 3pm. Please do come and support on what looks to be an exciting and enjoyable day and thank you to those children who have spent time practising for the occasion and taking part.
St. George’s Day Painting Competition
The winners of the St George painting competition, Ellie Lewis (Year 2) and Rosa Herring (Year 3) have had their paintings turned into notelets. These are now available for purchase at either of the school’s site offices ( 6 notelets in a pack with envelopes for £3).
Money raised from the purchase of the notelets will go to St. George’s Church Damerham.
